Should have about eight new songs on there...

The Ginz
-
December 3, 2011
I absolutely love the Ginz...brothers for life! I love Janie and the Ginz...I really like the picture of you with Chris, Sue and Connie! Makes me wish I would have been there.
I stopped into a church
I passed along the way
You know, I got down on my knees
And I pretend to pray
Oh, the preacher likes the cold
He knows I'm gonna stay
Snow Today...

November 23, 2011
Hey I'm sitting here with a rum and coke...enjoying the moment...thinking about what a great family I have, the kids are actually doing better than me...which is great! Couldn't ask for better kids and grand children...and of course my lovely Mother...who has been beside me the whole way...friends come and go for various reasons, they can be by your side one moment, then jabbing at you the next...but family is forever!
Let's Get Drunk...
-
November 19, 2011
Well,
I just heard a song on the radio that reminded me of a time with Rick, with S & R Express...Pistol Pete's. He was going out with this girl by the name of Ann, her father showed up at Pistol Pete's right when we were singing "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw"...well he wasn't too happy, number one that his daughter was dating this guy in a band...but number two...he sings "why don't we get drunk and screw"...I thought it was funny...but her Dad didn't...hence my verse in "Rollin' Down the Line"...sorry Rick...but that was pretty damn funny!
Thinking back...
-
November 18, 2011
It's funny...the older you get the more you think back on all of the years past...I've had so many good friends throughout my life...too bad you just can't press a button and have them all show up for one huge party...that would be a gas...people from Missouri to Denver to San Diego to Hawaii...some were just meant to be...being in the right place at the right time...maybe there is someone watching over us! I've had my times of loneliness and sorrow...but the only way to get through those times, is to get some good people around you...which it seems I've always been able to do to help pull me through...have a good weekend everyone!
Sax Player...
-
November 9, 2011
Well...
Guess I'd better get a Sax Player and finish up "Thru The Window Pane"
...adding another song I recorded years ago..."Swing at me One More time"...just for kicks..."Whispering Wind" will have to wait I guess...
A Preview of Lyrics from CD Feelin' Funky

Don't Look Back!
I was down on the Mississippi
On the Riverboat The Robert E. Lee
The Four of Us sang down the river
Singin': "Lord we're lost in this world of misery"
Against The wind...
-
October 23, 2011
Bob Seger...these are some of the best lyrics ever written right here...
The years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home
And I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worried about paying or even how much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searching
Searching for shelter again and again
Against the wind
A little something against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter sgainst the wind
Well those drifter's days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out

Black Rose
-
October 14, 2011
One of my favorite verse from a song:
When the devil made that woman
Lord, she threw the pattern away
She was built for speed with the tools you need
To make a new fool every day.
Way down deep and dirty
On the darker side of shame
I caught a cane cuttin' man with a bottle of gin
With a rose of a different name.
The devil made me do it the first time
The second time I done it on my own
Lord, put a handle on a simple headed man
Help me leave that black rose alone.

Positively 4th Street
You got a lotta nerve
To say you are my friend
When I was down
You just stood there grinning
You got a lotta nerve
To say you got a helping hand to lend
You just want to be on
The side that’s winning
You say I let you down
You know it’s not like that
If you’re so hurt
Why then don’t you show it
MountainBoogie CD
-

Well...as I said earlier...I will feature a different CD each week. This week is MountainBoogie. Most of these songs were written in the 1970's...three songs placed in the top 10 of the Colorado Songwriter's Festival...the first year I entered "Colorado Canyon Song" placed #4, the following year, "Morning Glory" placed #3 and "Whiskey" placed #8.

I get hits from all around the world. You may hate my guts or you may like me...None of us are perfect, I tried but couldn't do it.
Don't Cry
-
October 1, 2011
Have you ever had
People try to put you down
And talk about it
All over town...
Have you then tried to save face
Set people straight
Only to find
...you're a little too late
Don't Cry on my shoulders
You see I've been there myself
Don't Cry on my shoulders
'Cause I know...
Sometimes we all need just a little help
Dancin' Upon The Clouds

Don't you love people that talk behind your back...can't say it to your face...thinking they know the whole story...but they don't.

Hot Rod Steven & Dr. Watson
-
September 24, 2011
I've decided I'm going to feature one of my CD's each week for awhile.
This week on my music box, it will be "Hot Rod Steven & Dr. Watson".
This features three songwriters. Hot Rod Schroeder, Steve Gilbert and myself.
The lead singer on each song is the songwriter.
1. MountainBoogie (Ferguson)
2. Passin' Through (Schroeder)
3. In and Out of Love (Gilbert)
4. Morning Glory (Ferguson)
6. Cable Television Blues (Gilbert)
7. Killin' Me (Schroeder)
8. Thanks For Being A Friend (Ferguson)
And then I just threw in a few extras for fun.
