Played here the summer of 1970 with "The Four Of Us" five nights a week, a four part Harmony acoustic quartet...good times! Mark, Chris, Sue and myself. We also performed at the Governor's Convention here 1970. Governor's from every state attended. In the summer 1972 Mark and I formed a Duo that played 5 nights a week at The Leather Bottle in St. Louis, he recently sent me a CD of a recording we did back then, about 13 or so songs, what memories that brought back. We did songs from America, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Neil Young, Simon & Garfunkel, Kinks. This also has my first attempt at songwriting with Kathy Schnieder on piano, she wrote the music, I wrote the Lyrics. Mark will ALWAYS be one of my best friends of all time! Only wish I would have stayed around St. Louis so we could have continued throughout the years...but as we all know, hindsight is 20/20.
Lived right on the Pokai Bay beach!
Rick & I played music down at the Army Rec Club, Pokai Bay, just a beer away! Rick used to live on the beach of Pokai Bay he on the second floor and I was on the fourth floor, we would rehearse during the day with a mini PA system and the land lord came and knocked on the door and said "Turn that radio down we're getting complaints!" Well we told him it was us rehearsing, he sat and listened for awhile and since he was a local Hawaiian, he then proceeded to get us booked at a local Hawaiian Wedding...I thought that was a compliment, but also pretty funny...unfortunately, I recently visited the bay, and it's really gone downhill over the years...what a waste of a once beautiful bay.
Here's my daughter performing as Mrs Lovett in Sweeeney Todd at the Arvada Center, this is a bootleg from someone in the audience, so you see heads in the mix.
Saw The Commander this summer, one of the best bands I've seen playing out lately. This CD is my favorite from him. doesn't have Hot Rod Lincoln, but it's great all the way through! The Boogie Man and Hawaii Blues are my personal favorites.
Their debut album is still my favorite, probably because this is the time period Mark and I were learning these tunes. Riverside, Sandman and Three Roses were the ones we performed at the Leather Bottle.
Still one of the better Albums out there...I remember hearing this harmony at the end of my High School years with a friend, we just played it over and over and over.
Probably my favorite Fogelberg is his first "Homefree", but you have to be in a mellow mood to get through this, but at the right time, it's a great CD.
